Services

The Troup County Tax Commissioner’s Office offers a variety of services to the public, such as:

  • Selling and renewing your automobile tag
  • Collecting property taxes
  • Collecting mobile home taxes
  • Collecting timber taxes
  • Processing title transfers

Property Taxes

The official deadline for property taxes is November 15th. After this date penalties and interest accrue. You may pay your property taxes online at Troup County’s online tax payment system.

Car Buyers

New legislation effective January 1, 2011, will require a person purchasing a vehicle from an individual to register the vehicle within seven business days. Cardboard tags in lieu of proper license tags will no longer be permitted.

The following documents must be submitted to the local tag office:

  • Certificate of title
  • Bill of sale
  • Previous owner’s registration
  • Proof of insurance

Title Ad Valorem Tax (TAVT) for 2020 is set at 6.6%.

New Residents to Georgia pay TAVT at a rate of 3%. (New Georgia Law effective July 1, 2019)
